About Us

The Joseph Schnieders Foundation To Support CJD Research is a Texas chartered, non-profit corporation whose sole purpose is to provide additional monies for research into the treatment and cure for Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.

The Foundation was granted IRS tax-exempt 501(c)(3) status on March 29, 2000. Three officers serve the Foundation for $1.00 per year each. Numerous volunteers provide valuable time and effort to our fund-raising activities throughout the year.

The Joseph Schnieders Foundation To Support CJD Research was formed as the result of the early death of Joseph D. Schnieders - a great golf enthusiast, work colleague, and friend. Following a four-year stint in the Air Force, Joe was an FAA air traffic controller for 27 years. Joe was a very compassionate man who loved golf second only to God and his family. In honor and memory of Joe's life and for the benefit of others, Joe's wife Sue, his four children Lisa, Joe, Jeni, and Carrie, and I, dedicate a portion of our lives to helping science find a treatment/cure for Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.

Each year a fund-raising golf tournament is held at an outstanding local golf facility. Proceeds from the tournament, on-course games, and the auction held during the tournament dinner will be channeled into CJD research projects. Tax-deductible donations are also accepted from individuals, companies, and/or other organizations.
